Herd Health
Rather than waiting to deal with problems as they arise, 7L focuses on preventative herd health proactively to stop problems from developing. A comprehensive herd health program —including a rigid vaccination schedule, annual disease testing and monitoring, and an aggressive incoming quarantine procedure for cattle — assures customers that cattle purchased from 7L are as healthy as possible.
The herd is accredited-free of Brucellosis and enrolled in the National Voluntary Bovine Johne's Disease Control Program. All of the cattle are annually tested for bovine viral diarrhea persistent infection (BVD PI), tuberculosis (TB) and bovine leukosis virus (BLV). Modified live virus (MLV) vaccines are systematically used and vendor products rotated to maximize broad range immunity for differing strains of common diseases.
On a weekly basis, the local 7L veterinarian visits the farm to review animals with the herd managers that need treatment for various ailments as needed. We are constantly updating our procedures and practices to proactively maintain a high level of bio-security for the herd.
7L Farms management is glad to visit with interested parties about their comprehensive herd-health program. Please give us a call.
